Jaroy B Johnson, Executive Director
Mr. Johnson is the founder of the TEAM R.O.A.R. Organization. Although he has over 16 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, his passion is clearly community service. He recalls growing up in Washington, DC and the challenges faced as a result of lack of resources. Mr. Johnson took on the responsibility to ensure our youth and communities would not suffer the same obstacles. He has fully dedicated himself to the needs and services of our youth and communities by launching TEAM R.O.A.R.. Mr. Johnson notes, "It's education first and basketball second in the prioritization of life, failure to do so, simply eliminates options."
A life-long fan of education and basketball, Mr. Johnson attended Washington, DC and Prince George's County public schools. He would graduate from Forestville High School with an athletic scholarship to Xavier of Louisiana. Mr. Johnson sustained an injury that forfeited his scholarship. "I was morally devastated as a result of forfeiting my scholarship however, later I realized my continuing focus on education saved me..." Mr. Johnson shares. Mr. Johnson leads TEAM R.O.A.R. as the Executive Director. He provides the ELT with organizational management, strategic partnership development, marketing and communication campaigns, technical innovation and lastly, basketball operations. He's a proud father of three beautiful children, an active mentor to kids in his community, has a Bachelors degree in Information Systems and is currently completing his Masters degree in Information Systems. |
Ondria L. Johnson, Director of Education and Basketball Operations
Ms. Johnson is the Director of Education and Basketball Operations of the TEAM R.O.A.R. Organization. She has over 10 years of experience in education, inside and outside of the classroom. She truly has a passion for educating students of all ages; no matter their background. As a native Washingtonian, she know the needs of those in the Washington DC area. Athletics and education are dear to her. She has coached basketball teams and owned and operated an educational resource center. She has devoted almost half her life to the academic and social needs of those that have been in need of her services. Her company was the catalyst for her developing her own program that prepared students for the approaching school year. Her catch phrase at her company was “learning the old-fashion way” where she focused not only on a student’s classroom performance but also their social well-being. That same mindset is what she brings to TEAM R.O.A.R. where education comes first and basketball second.
Ms. Johnson attended Washington, DC and Prince George's County public schools. She graduated from Banneker Academic High School and Kettering University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering. Her passion has always been centered around education. |
Vonetta L. Coates, Director of Budgets and Finances
Mrs. Coates is the Director of Budgets and Finances of the TEAM R.O.A.R. Organization. She delivers 15 years of experience in financial management for non-profit organizations. Passion is what motivates Mrs. Coates to the overall development and success of students, therefore she mentors and tutors in general studies and SAT preparation.
She attended and graduated from Prince George's County Schools as a leader. Later, she would pursue and complete both, a Bachelor and Master of Science in Accounting. Mrs. Coates is a loving wife, mother and active member in her church and community. Mrs. Coates help lead TEAM ROAR's ELT with budgeting and forecasting, fundraising programs and the management of financial sponsorship. |
